Although appointed to Madison since 1992, I was ordained a deacon in 1980 and an elder in 1982 and have served churches in Wyckoff, North Plainfield and Hainesville in New Jersey and Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania.
My wife Kathy and I have 4 children: Sara Howard, Rebecca Kozak, Ben and Abby Shoaf. Kathy as a nurse works full time and has been quite a partner in the ministry here in Madison.
As Christians we seek the Kingdom of God as revealed in the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Christ. Yet, over the years in Madison and being on the corner of Drew University, I have become very interested in how the church interacts with the broader culture. I believe there is much we can learn from and share with one another both inside and outside the walls of our church.

Chelsea Jackson - Loesch
Student Assistant Pastor
Chelsea received a Bachelor’s in Music Therapy and a Certificate in Christian Leadership from Shenandoah University in 2012. During her time as an undergraduate Chelsea was given amazing opportunities, including: participating in a relational mission trip in Mozambique and completing a 6- month internship at a psychiatric hospital in New Orleans. Throughout her faith journey Chelsea has also had the opportunity to attend and serve churches of various denominations.
Chelsea and her cat DeCafe moved from Virginia to Madison in 2013. Chelsea attends Drew’s Theological School, where she is studying to receive a double Masters in Divinity and Social Work. Music, faith and social justice are close to Chelsea’s heart, and she hopes to blend these elements together, to create a life ministry that both serves and connects those inside and outside the church’s walls.
Director of Christian Education
We welcome Kathleen, who joined us as Christian Education Director in September of 2014. She is wife and mother of 3 and also the Director of Drew's Acorn Academy housed here at the church.
Natalie is originally from South Africa but has lived in London for 10 years before spending the last 10 years here in Madison with her husband and two children.
We appreciate all that Marlice does to maintain our historic church and grounds! She has two grown children and has good support and help from her husband Boris.
